I believe Freewriting

The statement “I believe that technology has both helped the world and destroyed the world” is make outlook at technology in general. I have always loved technology, but technology has not always been as kind to me.

Technology has helped the world in various ways. Probably one of the most noticeable is cellphones. Cell phones have been a great advancement in so many different ways. The ability to communicate with someone on the other side of the world its astounding in comparison to how quickly things were communicated even 50 years ago. Could you imagine life without such things like internet and having access to so much information in the palm of your hand? The ability to be almost anywhere in the world (assuming your have reception of course) and be able to call someone (or even visually seem them with programs like Skype or Face time) has been, I believe, one of the greatest advancements in history. Even before the phone, the quickest way to communicate with the other side of the world was “snail mail” and who knows how long it would have taken 20 years ago.

However, it’s also been detrimental to society in forms of physical contact and relationships with each other. No longer does someone have to worry about confrontation as all they need to do now is send a text message or an email. There is no face to face contact and while some people are okay with that, how long will it be before we have no contact with each other? At what point do we lose our humanity and not have the same character building moments of the first break up? The first fight? Or even other things like the first “I love you”?

So while there are so many advantages of technology, I believe that it is slowly taking away our humanity.
